You don’t need to spend money to increase your Google ranking. Even a potato with an AI installed can do it.

But if you just feel like a potato, then it’s better to start with something basic.

Don’t forget to keep these tips in mind when writing your content.

Keyword In The URL

Google likes it if you put your target word in your URL. It also shows you care for your audience, that you are organized, and you know what you are doing.

Do you remember those vintage drawers that organized archives? Probably you’ve seen them in movies. They helped a ton to keep documents organized. Well, computers are something like that. Since the internet is cluttered with a lot of content, when you make your website organized, you’ll be put higher in the ranks, because the Google the search engine will favor you.

As internauts — and content makers — we must make it easy for humans to find our content. It makes a big difference when you include your target word in your URL. If machines had feelings, they’d appreciate you doing this.

Tell me, what is easier to read?

  1. “www.b1gf00t15rea1.com”
  2. “www.big-foot-is-real.com”

Option 2 is more eye-candy. It also shows professionalism.

These type of URL’s help the user know where they are at on a website.

On the other hand, option 1 is just a headache.

So, Avoid putting numbers in your URL if you want your website to grow. And make your URL clean and concise, because people like it, and Google likes it.

LSI Keywords

LSI keywords are words that closely relate to your target word.

For all you mortals out there: We are talking about synonyms.

Isn’t it amazing how we can talk about one thing without having to use the same word over and over again? For example, we can say dog, doggie, doggo, canine, etc.

But sometimes, it can be tough to come up with a good synonymous word or phrase, specially if it’s an uncommon one.

But, I will show you a trick.

Trick

For this example, let’s say you want to know how much bamboo a panda eats daily.

After googling it, you need to scroll down until your mouse wheel can’t turn anymore. You’ll see a section that says “related searches”, and those are tied to your main search.

You’ll see what other users have also looked for (i.e. what do pandas drink?)

This is just one way to do it.

Google crawls or scans for articles that have the target word more prevalent than others. So, sprinkle some of your LSI keywords throughout your whole article to show Google your article is relevant to people.

That way, when someone is looking for information about bigfoot, the search engine will say, “Hey!, here’s an article that that talks about bigfoot!”

Keyword In Titles & Taglines

Put your main keyword in your title and taglines. Don’t forget to do this because it helps readers skim through your website easier. Outlines that are easy to follow are awesome, but when a title is wordy and off the point, the reader will click away from your website.

So, if you say you are going to talk about something (i.e. x,y,z) then make sure you add that x,y,z in your subtitles.

For example:

Title: “I’m going to talk about why bigfoot is real, where you can find him, and what he eats”

  1. Subtitle: Why bigfoot is real
  • Explain

2. Subtitle: Where you can find him

  • Explain

3. Subtitle: What he eats

  • Explain

The truth is, you can write an excellent article that proves bigfoot exists and no body would find it. But, if your article is SEO optimized, Google will probably list you on the first page. It’s better to put the keyword at the beginning of each subtitle because search engines look for this.

When an article is well-formatted, and the user interface is easy to follow, everyone is happy.

This is a thumbs up from Google.
